I’m not sure if you know this, but each water tower has a name for easy identification. For example:
- Leaning Water Tower: 29,500 gallon standpipe water storage tank is on Pine Mountain Dr.
- North Ridge Water Tower is located on Pine Ridge Dr.
- Twin Towers are located on Holly Rd.
Leaning Water Tower:
August 2016, Pine Mountain POA received a letter from the North Carolina Water Resources Environmental Quality office dated August 4th. In their letter they identified the following items:
- “The leaning storage tank appears to be in poor condition and needs to be replaced. We understand the POA is actively working to replace the tank. If it is not going to be replaced in the immediate future, maintenance work such as cleaning, sandblasting and painting should be completed.”
- “The sampling location for your monthly bacteria sample should vary among the sites selected on your sampling plan so that your monitoring represents the water quality throughout the distribution system.
Gavin Dotson, Western NC Representative of Southern Corrosion Engineered Tank Care, during the July monthly board meeting presented the board, in attendance, a proposal – of suggested cost estimates that varied between $3,718 to $20,882 to repair the Leaning Water Tower. Galvin also provided a suggested Management Schedule that provides a breakdown of services that would occur over a 10 year period of time.
The key point that Gavin Dotson kept making was the need to replace the tank floor and install grout beneath the tank floor and grade level. His company would not provide any work to the Leaning Water Tower issue unless the the tank floor was repaired. Unfortunately, I cannot locate anything that indicates the current condition of the tank floor or why it should be replaced/repaired.
