Local Area

Please take a moment to look around at everything that surrounds Pine Mountain:  South Mountains State Park, Morganton, Hickory, Lincolnton and Shelby.  We are just 1.5 hours North of Charlotte and 1.5 hours East of Asheville.

South Mountains State Park

One of the state’s most rugged areas, South Mountains State Park features elevations to 3,000 feet, an 80 ft waterfall, mountain streams, trout fishing, and more than 40 miles of trails for hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers.

Morganton/Burke County

Don’t let the small-town feel and charm fool you, Morganton & Burke County has great scenery, fine dining, national parks, and scenic trails (Fonta Flora State Trail near Lake James, Shortoff Mountain Trail/Pisgah National Forest which gives views of the Linville Gorge and High Shoals Falls Trail/South Mountains State Park).

Hickory/Catawba County

Hickory was once known as the Furniture Capital of the World and is now a booming place where city folks come to watch the cows eat, slop down Bar-B-Que, shop at Flea Markets and Farmer’s Markets while bragging about the past and how it’s still visible today through the county.  Hickory is the principal city in the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton MSA that caters to over 365,000 people.

Lincolnton/Lincoln County

Just minutes from I-40 & I-85 within the heart of the NC Piedmont area, Lincolnton is ideally located for day trips.  Folks with quieter tastes find Lincolnton to be an excellent place with a population of just over 100,000 – Lincolnton has maintained its small-town charm while providing big-city opportunities.

Shelby/Cleveland County

Big-city sophistication, small-town charm, and southern hospitality are just a few of the qualities that help define the wonderful Cleveland County community.  Cleveland County sits in the center of Crowder’s Mountain State Park, South Mountains State Park, Kings Mountain State Park and Kings Mountain National Military Park.
